I became a licensed registered nurse on July 12th, 2011. I have been working as a patient education specialist for a medical supply company since May of 2011. I have had the opportunity to travel to various pain clinics throughout northeastern Ohio to meet patients and help them learn to use electrotherapy in various manners to control chronic pain issues. This career has allowed me to use my critical thinking skills to come up with pain management regimens for a variety of patients with a broad array of needs.
I also have more than three years experience as a state tested nursing assistant and feel that this experience has given me a great insight to how important communication with patients, nurses, and interdisciplinary health professionals is. This work has helped to culture my caring and detailed attitude and my persevering work ethic.
I have also had the experience to work on a very fast-paced surgical floor during my precepting at Kent State University. I was able to care for my preceptor's entire load of patients on 2 Main at Mercy Medical Center in Canton, Ohio, in a timely and effective manner. I feel that the experience I had on this unit gave me a wonderful opportunity to develop my professional nursing skills and has prepared me to be able to adapt to any type of nursing experience I may be called into.
